Research has shown that high stress levels experienced from boardroom to shop floor frequently result in a decline in work performance and productivity, and also contribute to individual and family crises. Mood altering substances are in daily use as employers and employees alike, endeavor to escape their stressful environments. Companies can only benefit from retaining the services of a trained counselor who is competent in establishing employee assistance programs and a range of brief interventions to assist these individuals.
